Introduction

There was a moment in my life when I realized I couldn’t keep living the way I was. I was depressed and anxious all the time, crying over everything, and slowly losing pieces of myself I didn’t even recognize anymore. I let myself go, I felt like a burden to everyone around me, and I carried that weight of exhaustion day after day. By the end of 2015, I was tired, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually, I was tired of waking up feeling the same pain, the same heaviness. Something had to change…

Mentally I Was Not Okay…

Mentally, I was not okay, my mental health was at its absolute lowest, even if I didn’t fully realize it at first. Somewhere along the way, depression snuck up on me quietly, wrapping itself around my thoughts and emotions until it felt impossible to escape. I started feeling deeply insecure about myself, which was confusing because confidence had once come so naturally to me.

At the same time, I was dealing with painful relationship problems with my fiancé that left me heartbroken and emotionally drained. Financially, we were struggling so badly that I gave up on school, and there were moments when we were living out of my car just trying to survive. I worked two jobs to get by, exhausted all the time, with no space left for rest or “me time.”

On top of it all, I stopped my hormone replacement therapy, and that decision only pushed me further into sadness and disconnection from myself. Everything felt heavy, and I didn’t recognize the person I was becoming.

Finding Myself Again

Finding myself again didn’t happen all at once, it started quietly, with moments of stillness and honesty. I began meditating and truly self-reflecting on everything that had been unfolding in my life, allowing myself to face it without judgment. I learned to accept that starting over wasn’t a failure, but an act of courage.

Somewhere in that process, I remembered that I’m not a quitter, and no matter how heavy things felt, I had to keep my head held high. I also found my way back to prayer, reconnecting with God and leaning on faith for strength and guidance.

My relationship problems didn’t magically disappear, but we chose to release the pain we’d been holding onto and commit to healing together, believing that happiness was still possible for us.

Closing Paragraph

I know I still have a long way to go, but I’m learning to take things day by day, goal by goal, without putting so much pressure on myself. I’m choosing to trust the process, have faith, and place it all in God’s hands, knowing that His timing is always perfect.

I still have rough days, but I can already see how much I’ve grown—and it hasn’t even been a full month yet. Little by little, I’m finding my joy again, rediscovering who I am, and learning to move forward with grace, patience, and hope.
